Keith Cashner: CFHE Member April 2017 to present
My name is Keith and I have always struggled with excess weight on my body. From a young lad I started to put on weight and even at my fittest I always had fat around my midsection. I joined the CrossFit family at CrossFit Hawk Eye in April 2017 and fell in love with the variety of the workouts instead of the same old “couldn’t be bothered today” workouts of the gyms I had attended in the past.
I was getting stronger and more confident in whom I was physically plus I looked forward to every workout. But … I still knew that I was putting on weight and needed to do something about it. I always do better with regimented plan to stick to it. So, the 28-day Nutrition challenge came along, and I decided, as did my wife, that we would try it and see what kind of results we would find.
I was hopeful but was not prepared fully for the effort that needed to go into the challenge. However, when the time came I surprised myself in being able to properly focus on the challenge. The first week was a test in itself as it was a total change of habit, desire, and plan than what I was used too, I had never “thought about” my food preparation in the past like that I had to with this challenge. ‘Challenge’ what a good word for it! The second week got better as I was able to settle into the routine of similar food shops and food preparation. Honestly it was the third week that was the hardest for me, it became clear that I “couldn’t have” certain things that I wanted, but it was also that I felt bored by the monotony of the selected food for my plan. It wasn’t the plans fault; it was mine. I trudged through that week just but managed to go into week four with a new lease of life to finish the course set for me with determination and gusto! And sure enough it paid off! Big Time! I really was shocked with the results that I got through the challenge.
I still have fat around my midsection. I still struggle with my choices of what I eat and the amount. I do however have the strength to keep to training and working on my choices. Anyone could do this challenge. It is not meant to be easy, and if you do it be prepared for a “CHALLENGE”!

I’m Kimmy, and I started CrossFit after my husband had been going for three months. I saw big changes in his physical appearance and strength, as well as his attitude and confidence and I wanted a piece of that! I have been struggling with losing weight and getting fit, so seeing him excel made me want to try it. I’ve been going for now 14 months and couldn’t love it more!
I took part in the CrossFit Hawk Eye 28 Day Nutrition Challenge, and I was blown away at the results! I love food, and normally just ate whatever I wanted. But the challenge opened my eyes to the fact that a lot of what I ate was empty calories. I was also shown that I normally didn’t eat enough during a day (this was brilliant to hear). The challenge brought to light that I can eat so much more if I make healthier choices.
The challenge was difficult at first, when the cravings were still evident. But, after the first week, it got a lot easier to make healthier choices and stick to the menu. I have learned so much from the challenge, and still make it a priority to eat healthy. I would totally do the challenge again and recommend it to anyone who’s struggling to get on track with their healthy eating habits.
